Stampede in Mecca And Corrupt Hajj Official

Stampede In Mecca And Corrupt Hajj Official

I’m writing this article to inform Nigerians about the situation and incapability of the commission of Hajj representing Nigerians in Saudi Arabia.

I’m a student of Islamic University of Madinah and I’m opportune to work with a particular state in Nigeria..unfortunately our state had casualties and people lost there life among our pilgrims.

To my own surprise, the state chairman and the Secretary are still not sure of those among the pilgrims were hospitalized or died, we have to start searching for every hospital in Makkah,Hedda and Taif to check the Mayne our pilgrims are there.

Getting to the hospital we are surprise to find every country official trying to figure out the number of casualties they had.

Countries including Iran,India,Pakistan but we couldn’t even find any official of NAHCON there and up till now every country have been able to account for the number of there dead and injured pilgrim but the inability of our Nigeria Hajj commission official and there corrupt mind are making it difficult to determine the number of the dead and those who are alive.

Like PDP, we won't hang Buhari’s portrait - LP, PPA

Like PDP, we won’t hang Buhari’s portrait – LP, PPA

President Muhammadu Buhari
Two other political parties, the Labour Party and Progressive Peoples Alliance, have joined the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, in refusing to hang the portrait of President Muhammadu Buhari in their respective secretariats.

The two parties hinged their decision on the action of the ruling All Progressives Congress, which before it came to power, allegedly refused to hang the portrait of former President Goodluck Jonathan in its national secretariat.

Both the LP and PPA stressed that their action was a payback for the APC.

This is as chieftains of the PDP expressed divergent views on their party’s action, which was announced by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday.

“We will never hang his (Buhari) portrait in this office, because President Buhari is not known to our party. He is not a leader of our party and, therefore, we will never put his portrait here. We are a political party, very partisan and therefore, we are not going to hide that,” Metuh had told our correspondent on the telephone.

One of our correspondents, who visited the national secretariat of the PPA, situated along Emeka Anyaoku Street, Area 10, Garki Abuja, on Friday, observed that the President’s portrait was conspicuously missing.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Ameh, explained that the APC blazed the trail of “subtle civil disobedience” when it was in opposition.

Ameh said, “Your storyline should be whether the APC had the photograph of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. They did not. And that is the story; the APC did not have Jonathan’s portrait in the party’s national secretariat.

“Everything is about precedent. Throughout Jonathan’s tenure, the APC didn’t have his photograph; so, may be other political parties are also learning from the precedent set by the APC. They are following in the footsteps of the party during the last administration.”

A similar situation obtained at the national secretariat of the LP also situated in Garki.

The National Chairman, LP, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, said the party did not have Buhari’s portrait, noting that apart from the fact that the APC never accorded Jonathan such respect, the new administration had failed to make the official portrait of Buhari available to it.

Abdulsalam said, “We don’t have the photograph of President Buhari in our secretariat because the APC never had the photograph of ex-President Jonathan in their offices.

“We are supposed to get it but we don’t. The fact of the matter is that the Federal Ministry of Information should have called us, not only political parties, to say that the President’s photograph is available at the Federal Ministry of Information and that all organisations should apply for it.”

Meanwhile, top chieftains of the PDP have expressed divergent views on the position espoused by Metuh.

A stalwart of the party in Oyo State, Senator Lekan Balogun, said hanging of the President’s portrait should not be an issue to Nigerians.

Although he questioned PDP’s position on it, Balogun, however, said that if the constitution did not back hanging of the President’s portraits in all places, discretion should be exercised in doing so.

He said, “If it has become acceptable by the years, it is left for anybody to hang it. It will sound partisan to the extreme. It is not a constitutional requirement, but the PDP should not be the party that will reject hanging the President’s portrait, bearing in mind that when Goodluck Jonathan of the party served as President, everybody put his portrait in their offices at the time.

“Unless you can prove that when Jonathan was ruling, the APC did not hang his portrait, it should not be an issue. It is the kind of thing Nigerians play on.”

A prominent member of the party from the state, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), refused to comment on the issue.

Camerwoman sacked for Tripping up refugees

Camerawoman Sacked For Tripping Up Refugees

A camerawoman has been sacked after a video appeared to show her deliberately tripping up a refugee carrying a child as they ran away from police.

The video was posted online by Stephan Richter, a reporter for German channel RTL.

A man looks for help as he carries a child suffering from heat stroke

In another clip the same woman is seen kicking a female refugee.

Named in unconfirmed reports as Petra Laszlo, she worked for Hungarian channel N1TV and was filming on the country's southern border with Serbia.

"An employee of N1TV today showed unacceptable behaviour at the Roszke collection point," the channel said in a statement.

"We have terminated the contract of the camerawoman with immediate effect today."

Editor-in-chief Szabolcs Kisberk said: "I believe we have done what we had to do in this situation. We don't understand how this could happen, it is shocking and unacceptable."

N1TV - also known as also known as Nemzeti TV - describes itself as a channel that stands for "national issues".

It runs a weekly chat show with Gabor Vona, leader of the far-right, anti-immigration opposition party Jobbik, according to the channel's website.

Hungary's right-wing government has been vocal in its criticism of refugees attempting to reach other parts of Europe.

It described them as a threat to EU prosperity and expressed concerns that the large number of Muslims may threaten Christian values.

More than 150,000 refugees, many of them fleeing war in Syria, have been recorded entering Hungary so far this year.

They are heading through the country as they try to reach northern Europe, with Germany the most-favoured destination.

Police have been trying to register them in line with EU rules but many refuse, fearing they will then have to stay in Hungary.

You Are Yet To Publicly Declare Your Assets’ PDP Tells Buhari, Osinbajo

Read their press statement below… The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes as “a deceptive window-dressing to hoodwink unsuspecting Nigerians” the release, by an aide of the President, of a mere list of some belongings of President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in place of the pledge made to Nigerians by Mr. President as candidate of the APC on March 18, 2015, at exactly 5 pm. The party recalled that the President in his own words had stated to Nigerians that, “I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liability and also encourage my political appointees to publicly declare their assets and liability.” The PDP however, observed that President Buhari and his vice failed to produce copies of their declarations, detailing the exact nature and value of respective assets. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Friday said “the release of a mere list of belongings falls short of credibility, transparency and anti-corruption standards as well as exposes the proclivity of the present administration for deception.” “We have noted the release of a flimsy list of belongings of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by the Presidency, who want such to pass as the public declaration of assets as pledged by the President. “Nigerians are not deceived by this poor attempt at window-dressing designed by the Presidency to hoodwink the unsuspecting populace in a desperate bid to shore up its diminished image. “We ask, is the resort to a mere list, instead of true copies of the declaration not a ploy to give the Presidency a window for denial in consonance with their widely observed inclination for flip flopping, backtracking and brazen denials of their statements and actions? “All we want is credibility, integrity and sincerity of purpose. We are not questioning how a President, who by December last year, declared that he had only N1 million in his account, could suddenly now list N30 million in the same bank account by May 29, and after an expensive campaign; we are not yet demanding the public declaration of his assets in his wife’s name. “We are not even applauding the multiplication of his cows from 150 to 250 in a space of three months, arising from his dual and conflicting pronouncements on this issue “What the PDP and discerning Nigerians demand is for Mr. President to always stand by his words and pledge. “Mr. President, this is a mere list of your belongings and not public declaration of assets in fulfillment of your covenant with Nigerians” Signed: Chief Olisa Metuh

A Saudi airstrike targeting a wedding party in Yemen has killed at least seven people, including the bride, in the country’s northwestern province of Sa’ada.

Saudi fighter jets bombarded the location of the marriage ceremony in the area of Jabel al-Haram in the district of Razeh in Sa’ada, al-Masirah TV reported.

Elsewhere in the province, eight people were killed in Saudi airstrikes on residential areas in the small town of Dammaj. All of the victims were women and children.

Saudi warplanes also pounded the areas of Beit Naem and al-Garzeh in the district of Hamdan in the province of Sana’a, killing at least two children and injuring six other people.

Saudi fighter jets also targeted the residential area of al-Miad in Sana’a several times. At least 69 people were reportedly killed and injured in the attacks.

The Yemeni Health Ministry announced earlier that Saudi Arabia has been using banned weapons during the military campaign against Yemen, which started on March 26.

Saudi fighter jets also bombarded the Yemeni city of Ta’izz, the capital of a southwestern Yemeni province with the same name, killing seven people, including women and children.

Saudi warplanes also launched airstrikes on a military base in the southwestern province of Dhamar.

In response to the deadly air raids, the Yemeni army, backed by popular committees, targeted the Saudi army bases along the border with Yemen, destroying the military vehicles positioned there.

Al-Hazm liberated

Meanwhile, al-Masirah television reported that Yemeni forces managed to cleanse al-Hazm, the capital of the northern province of al-Jawf, of al-Qaeda militants.

According to the report, the Yemeni army and popular committee forces have regained control of all military bases and governmental offices in al-Hazm.

Separately, Saudi fighter jets bombarded Hazm after it was recaptured by the Yemeni army.

The UN says at least 2,300 people have been killed and 7,330 injured due to the conflict in Yemen since March 19.

Boats with 600 Rohingya and Bangladeshis land in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Boats carrying nearly 600 Bangladeshis and long-persecuted Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar landed in western Indonesia on Sunday, with some migrants needing medical care, officials and a nonprofit organization said. Thousands more are believed to be stranded at sea.

Steve Hamilton, of the International Organization for Migration in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, said his teams were racing to the Aceh province sub-district of Seunuddon, where the boats offloaded.

Of the four vessels that arrived, three had apparently been abandoned by the smugglers and the other ran out of fuel, he said.

Most of the migrants were men, but there also were 98 women and 51 children, officials said, adding that many were sick and weak.

"We had nothing to eat," said Rashid Ahmed, a 43-year-old Rohingya man who was on one of the boats. He said he left Myanmar's troubled state of Rakhine with his eldest son three months ago.

"All we could do was pray," he said, crying as he spoke to The Associated Press by phone.

The Rohingya have for decades suffered from state-sanctioned discrimination in Myanmar and are denied citizenship.

Attacks on the religious minority by Buddhist mobs in the last three years have sparked one of the biggest exoduses of boat people since the Vietnam War, sending 100,000 people fleeing, according to Chris Lewa, director of the Arakan Project, which has monitored the movements of Rohingya for more than a decade.

An estimated 7,000 to 8,000 people are now being held in large and small ships in the Malacca Strait and nearby international waters, she said, adding that crackdowns on trafficking syndicates in Thailand and Malaysia have prevented brokers from bringing them to shore.

Some are held even after family members pay for them to be released from the boats.

"I am very concerned about smugglers abandoning boatloads at sea," Lewa said, noting that some people have been stranded for more than two months.

Tightly confined, and with limited access to food and clean water, their health is inevitably deteriorating, Lewa said, adding that dozens of deaths have been reported so far. land in Indonesia via Yahoo
